checking off our summer "to do" list!

We made a 30+ list of activities we wanted to do this summer- everyone contributed their ideas, and we have been checking fun things off the list!

Bubble painting- HUGE fail.  Read those directions four times and this was the best we did.
 Patriotic Hand Printing

thought they turned out cute!

Paige wanted to write a letter to the President...so she did.  We addressed the envelope to the White House, and she is hoping for a response!

We had a breakfast "bake-off" after a sleepover.  Peyton couldn't resist joining the fun.
We made homemade muffins, and the girls were able to choose from several ingredients as add-ins.
The "Morning Muffin Bakeshop" was open for business!

sensitive to all dietary needs ;)

Hunter felt left out, so we decided to make a boys' table as well- selling juice and bananas.
I figured it was great fine motor practice to write out his items and their price point!

These girls raised almost $8 for their "friendship jar."  They made lists of all the places they wanted to go together when they were teenagers. Ha!!

These same sweet friends joined us for a soccer championship party!  So exciting for these soccer teammates!

We decided to take a little bike ride one morning- and we did a good twenty minutes  around the neighborhoods with little complaint!

The rec center pool has been a weekly event for us...and Peyton has wanted to get across these lilly pads so badly.  He finally did it!!
 Here's our diver

Continuing our DEAR (drop everything and read) time, I cracked up when I saw this...

We took a trip to the duck pond to feed the turtles and ducks, followed by playground time.

The kids took their scooters down the path to the playground.

Paige missed her field day at school due to strep, so we recreated our own little field day.
War!

 Bozo buckets

Ice bucket challenge

 Hose spraying!

 Popsicle time

check out these eyes- Vitiligo is SO much better!

And then surprising Daddy with an ambush!

Splash Park and a Picnic!

And last but not least, check out his coloring on this beach ball.  UN.BE.LIEVE.ABLE!!

Summer time has been filled with fun activities!!

  1. I just came across your blog while doing a Google search for Vitiligo. My son is five and was diagnosed with Vitiligo last week. He also has Autism. We are taking him to a Rheumatologist as soon as we can to check on his potential for developing some other sort of autoimmune disease and are praying hard that Vitiligo is the end of it. I have a positive ANA, as does my mother, so autoimmunity can't seem to leave us alone. It's been such an emotional wreck of a week, and I'm pretty sure that one more thing would push me straight over the edge. I'm sitting here reading back over your old posts and finding comfort that someone else is walking this road that seems to make no sense. I've had a lot of talks with God lately (sometimes talking, sometimes yelling), and while I can't understand the "why" of any of this, all I know is that I keep running back to Him. Praying for peace for us and for you guys as you raise your kids and try to give Hunter all he needs.

  2. Thank you for your note!! I truly hope you find some answers. Vitiligo rarely stands alone...for us, Autism was an autoimmune reaction. This is a hard, hard often lonely road. I find myself unfairly angry at typical families on difficult days...but in the end, we were selected for this journey for a reason. Wishing you abundant rainbows (our sign that things will be ok).
