Let it snow...or thundersleet...or freeze fog...

Growing up in WI my whole life, snow was a given every winter season.  In fact, it was a given during the fall and spring seasons, too.  I can remember walking to class at Marquette in a full blizzard, and wondering if Logic 101 really was more important than my frozen eyelashes.  Looking back today, I know it was...my future husband was in that class (even though he may or may not have frequently skipped that class;)).

Down here in the south, snow is such a rarity that the whole town shuts down when a storm hits.  Others may laugh, but the truth of the matter is that we don't have enough salt trucks to hit all the roads.  I remember when we first moved here we compared the number of salt trucks here to my small, Midwestern hometown of 85,000 and we had the same amount here.  Definitely not going to cut it during an ice storm!

So we had a little cabin fever this extended weekend- and school was cancelled yet again tomorrow!  We made the most of it and had family game time, tons of books, warm fires, ice sledding in laundry baskets (that's the truth), and enjoyed some movies.

Fun with Elfie and enjoying the fire

Paige's Indian Princess Tribe had their annual Christmas carols and crafts at two nursing homes in the area.  They made these folks' day!
Paige made rainbow loom bracelets for some of the ladies.

Enjoying this downtime in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season.  Planning on decorating Christmas cookies tomorrow AM- if I can figure out a good gluten free cut-out cookie dough!
